Supplies Needed: Deck of cards
Summary: Someone picks a card out of the deck, remembers it, shows everyone accept you, them returns it to the deck. The deck is mixed. Amazingly, you find the card.
Secret: Remember another card in the deck which magicians call the Key Card or the Locator Card and place your spectator’s Chosen Card next to it. In order to find the spectator’s Chosen Card you must know where the Key/Locator Card you memorized is.
Set up: Ask a person to pick any card and show everyone accept you. Tell them you can sense which card it is after they cut the deck a couple times.
Instructions:
Step 1: Choose a card to memorize and put it at the bottom of the deck. (Bottom of the deck is the top card if all the cards were faced up and bottom card if all the cards are face down) We will use the King of hearts as an example.
Step 2: Ask your spectator to select a card. Let’s say they choose the 2 of spades. Turn around so you don’t see the card they chose.
Step 3: Have them show anyone else that is around, so that they can’t try to say they chose another card.
Step 4: Cut the deck in half then have the spectator return the card they chose to the top of the deck.
Complete the cut by placing your bottom card (the King of hearts) on top of the spectators chosen card.
Step 5: The King of hearts or whatever your Key Card is will now be on top of the 2 of spades(Spectators Chosen Card). You may now have the spectator cut the deck a few times. Your memorized card will remain next to the spectator’s card.
Important: Don’t shuffle the deck because the Key Card and Chosen Card might get separated.
Important: Don’t make a big deal about cutting the deck of cards or mention mixing the cards because he spectator may want to shuffle them. Just say ‘Cut the deck a few times’.
Step 6: Now spread or fan the cards flat on a table or in your hands.
Step 7: Find your memorized card, the King of hearts. The card UNDERNEITH it will be the spectator’s card, the 2 of spades.
Ask the spectator if they see their card – Look away and tell the spectator you are looking away because you don’t want to see what they are looking at.
Step 8: Cut the spectator’s card to the top of the deck. Ask them the name of the card they chose. Turn over the top card and there it is…
